Remembering Dr. Geil Browning | ICAN Co-Founder
ICAN
The ICAN community mourns the recent loss of our co-founder, friend and inspiration, Dr. Geil Browning. To us, there may not be another female leader who leaves a bigger, more powerful legacy.
She created something truly special here alongside Fran Root in the founding of ICAN back in 1981 to serve and develop leaders, especially female businesswomen, in the Omaha community and beyond, and then went on to found yet another something special with global impact, Emergenetics. She is a mentor and icon who touched the lives of so many ICAN program graduates and conference attendees over the last 40+ years, and taught all of us how to lead with intention, spirit and awareness as we honor the diversity, perspective and true authenticity of others. Through co-founding ICAN, co-facilitating the Influence and Focus programs and the development of Emergentics she imparted teachings and wisdom that live within the hearts and minds of so many over her impressive lifetime. Numerous members of the ICAN network credit Geil with opening their eyes to the world and taking them across the globe. What a gift.
She not only created movements, but led with her heart and gave back in abundance to many individuals, communities and organizations. Geil was transparent, vulnerable and empowering. As a member of our team shared, “I could listen to Geil tell stories forever.” We are grateful to have been part of her story – her legacy will indeed live on at ICAN. What an honor to play a part in carrying it forward.
The ICAN team, faculty and board of directors offer our sincerest condolences to Geil’s family, close friends, and all who were inspired by her. Countless memories of a woman who meant so much will be with us always.
